I got a recommendation for this fly bait- sounds great, but worried about toxicity using too close to coop....if the chickens were to "find" a dead fly and eat it, they would be poisioned? My husband has sprayed Pyretrhine sp? and this is supposedly safe around them? The Flies are starting to...
We have 3 RIR pullets and they do NOT have tall combs like the one in your picture, just short pinkish barely there combs, and they are very plump 10-11 week olds, bigger than yours...I'm new to this and hoping my EE is not a roo, but I'm thinking he is.
she looks like my easter egger, with the pea comb, grey legs, no rump, brown eyes, and tan beak, "hood" around neck and plumage coming out at cheeks also matches mine...but I am a beginner and in no way an expert on ID'ing chickens!
these EE were straight run, I bought both, hoping at least one would be a hen, as we want chickens just for eggs and aren't allowed roosters in the city I had a hunch, but as they are growing, I am seeing more and more differences between the two EE, they are the pale grey and the grey/black...
This is a f/u to my thread "bloody poop with photos and chickens not acting sick" well, two of them eventually did get very listless and quit eating, puffed out, etc. It is day #4 on corrid, all 5 of the 8 week old chickens are "back to normal" as fall as I can tell, acting happy, eating...
UPDATE....Well, one of the RIR and my favorite EE are definately the bleeders, (all of the other 3 are still having normal poops), and those two are acting sluggish now...just puffed up, not moving around much, "sleepy" and not wanting to eat or drink too much, I put treated corid water in a...
Thanks! Got it, (last package they had!) chickens are drinking it now....witnessed some more light red/pinkish/tan poops that looked fresh, and had like sausage casings...stretchy like. Keeping my fingers crossed that none get really sick, I've become very very attatched to all and daughter has...
Thank you, our local Tractor Supply carries the Corid 20%, will have to calculate the powder to liquid dose, but will go ahead & pick it up this am...hopefully it's a good sign they are all active this am, and only a small light pink area seen overnight, no great bloody mess
Wanted to add, the chicks have grown well, gained weight well, eating/drinking great, very active, there is NO foul odor to the poop, no injury found on any birds, going on 9 weeks old, they have just in last week "moved" to their big coop and run in the backyard from being in temporary quarter...
I have looked at the sample stool images, and other threads on this topic... just not too sure where my birds' "poop" falls in the categories, cannot tell which 8 week old bird it came from, (they all nestle together to sleep) I have #3 RIR, and #2 EE, all appear well, drinking, eating and...
