Interesting. I acquired 4 hens and a rooster from a neighbor who moved out of state. We hatched the eggs that these 3 of the 4 hens lay. This white chick was our only successful hatch out of 6.
This particular hen is somewhere around 4. The new chicks have NOT been integrated yet. Our coup is a 6x10x10. We also have a 5x10x6 dog run we’ll be adding on when the new chicks move in. She’s the only one with feather loss.
I took these this morning. She now has a red spot on her chest. They’ve all lived together for over a year. Nothing new has happened. What’s happening to my hen?
I’m new to the whole chicken thing. We acquired 4 hens and a rooster in late May. Recently I noticed the butt of a hen picked at. That same hen now has plucking signs at the upper wing/shoulder. What is causing this? Is this a social thing?
We incubated 6 eggs, hatched 3, lost two. So, we had to get a friend for our lone survivor. Two kids means two friends. My daughter picked a Sussex and I can’t remember for the life of me what my son picked. Please help!
This is my first hatching. 6 eggs. 1 hatched about 36 hours ago. Send and third have started today. The first chick was dry and pecking at the pip so we moved it to the brooder this morning. Is it normal for a single chick to chirp loud and constantly? When anyone gets close to the brooder...
