Well funny you should ask. We asked our tiny flock of bantams to join us on a cross country track to the east coast via car last summer and they were such wonderful passengers. Now they're living in a wonderful yard with lots of trees and grass and 4 seasons to get used to. They are all very happy.
I have 2 : a heritage and Narraganset 6 day old. The Narragansset cries constantly. I am going to try the Stffed animal, e had no idea how needy these babies would be. How long do they stay this needy?
This rooster has fertilized 95% of every egg we have hatched in the last year, totaling over 80 birds! he is the best! He is now a grandpa in our flock. He has Brough us so much happiness and joy.
my silkie hen got off her eggs 2 hours ago, its still 90 degrees and day 18. will she go bak in? I don't have and incubator, just another broody hen on 5 eggs.
boo hoo. We didn't help a chick who has a hole to breathe an peepd for hours but was I think too. big to wiggle its was around the shell to zip it, and it died in he shell. I feel so guilty.
can I close off one of the two air flow openings in my incubator during lockdown to reduce loss of moisture? Can I add water through one of the holes to increase humidity?
too worried...power outage had all my 9 fertile 8 day old eggs out of incubator power. They're still moving, but I don't know what the outcome of the hatch would be. the temperature was 88 f. when the power came on. Boo Hoo. any feedback?
the incubator is in a very stable part of our home which remains @ 72 degrees maximum. still wondering if the incubator might require more liquid, the awful directions with this kit did not mention Lock down procedures. thanks so much for your feed back!!!
there are 4 little chambers besides the egg holders that I could possibly soak some cotton balls that would remain untouched by the egg during lockdown., when you say hydrometer do you mean a humidity thermometer? I could get one but not sure it would for.. Ill look for one. All eggs after...
