Well... my plans WERE to breed them... but I guess that changes things! They were free so I guess its not like I paid for them...

Well.. I'm not sure about my male though... he looks nice enough, but in another post, someone pointed out that his tail feathers dont have the distinct stripes it should have... is that something to be worried about?? His is a more mottled pattern... Here is a pic:

So... since his tail doesnt have the clear lines... is he possibly crossed with something else?? Or is it a defect?

So... I saw how much it would cost to get my hands on some F1 birds... ... I think I'll have to settle for what I have... lol But... if I breed my "pure" birds will I be able to tell if they are truely pure or crossed by their offspring??

Wow... so... the big question is: How does someone go about getting F1 birds?? I bet that would be absolutely amazing!

I was just given this pair of Lady Amherst pheasants! I am in the process of building them a proper coop and run but for now they are in a smaller cage. I know that they shouldnt be mixed with my other birds, with that in mind, I guess I will move them further away from my chickens... I don't...

I was just given a black bantam roo... I know my hen isn't that great bc she is hatchery quality, but what do you all think about the new roo?? His feet feathering could be better, but he was living in a run that was literally flooded and could have been mistaken for a pig pen... so I'm thinking...

Just for fun.. here is another one of #6... this one wouldnt stand still for its pictures and was constantly running back to my daughter and jumping on her lap... I think that one's gunna end up as a pet
