Review by '' on item 'Khaki Campbell'

We got 4 Khaki Campbells about 10 months ago and absolutely love them to pieces. They started laying at about 5 months, and very rarely miss a day, even in winter. We did lose one, I think to some kind of blockage. :( Otherwise they have all been totally healthy and great. We also...

    Winter watering

OK, thanks for the advice. We might look into a heated hose if we can find a good deal on one. Or maybe we'll just have to keep their water closer to the house so we don't have to walk so far through the snow to re-fill it. The girls are worth it, right?

    The Duck Thread

Thanks. I have looked for those at the farm supply place, but they don't have any that are big enough. I'll have to check online. I just wondered if there was some magical product out there that made them store easily, since we have so many! Maybe I'll have to design something.

    Winter watering

Hi all, We have a small flock of 5 ducks, 4 khakis and 1 cayuga. We are absolutely enamored. This will be our first winter with them. Here in northern Utah, the winters can be very wet and cold. I'm not worried about housing, as they have an insulated house we close them in at night, as...

    The Duck Thread

Hi guys! I haven't been here much but I love coming here to read when I'm wondering about something. We got 4 khaki campbell babies in April, and they started laying in mid September. Since our first egg, our cuties have laid 117! We recently added a 2 year old Cayuga as well. We absolutely...

    Getting rid of my chickens!

I have been wanting chickens, but you all and a neighbor who has ducks are swaying me. I've got a decent sized backyard. My total lot is just over 1/5 acre, so of course the backyard would be I'd say roughly 1/3 of that. If I were to get 3 or 4 ducks, would this be a good number without...

New here. How's this coop design?

We are thinking 5 hens. What do you think of this coop design? I think the only thing I'd add that's not in the diagram is a roost, and I'm wondering if that's enough run space (though we'd probably clip wings and let them run around the yard some. Most of our fence is 6ft but we do have a...

    I'm new with questions!

I posted this over on the introductions forum but thought I'd put it here as well and might get more responses. Hi all! DH and I have discovered that we can have up to 5 chickens (since we already have 1 dog and the limit is 6 pets) here in suburbia (Sandy, UT). We have been researching and...

    New here with random questions

Hi all! DH and I have discovered that we can have up to 5 chickens (since we already have 1 dog and the limit is 6 pets) here in suburbia (Sandy, UT). We have been researching and are getting ready to get started. I do have a few random questions if anyone can help! 1. I've read you can...
