That's exactly what it was! She was fine when the boys were removed for a while. The problem male is kept in his own fenced in area in the run during the day to prevent it from happening again. Everything is fine, and no other issues have lead me to believe otherwise.
Thank you for the input...
Once again, I neglected this post.
You were right! I returned her the next day and removed the overzealous boys and all has been well.
Lately, one of my males continues to antagonize the female pekins (whenever he goes for the female khaki, the alpha male khaki chases him off), so he has a...
Sorry it's late, but we ended up with 2 ducklings, 8 and 9 days old now! One appears to be a mix (pekhaki, haha) while the other is clearly 100% khaki campbell. They ended up imprinting on us. The one that was born a day before the other imprinted on me, while the other imprinted on my boyfriend...
So I have recently become a crazy duck lady and for some unknown reason decided to incubate some eggs from the coop. I have only have boy khakis, (unless one of my pekins is a very loud boy without a drake feather) so I am confident it's a mixed breed duckling! I have only seen a few pictures of...
I have 3 female and 2 male ducks. 2 males are khaki campbells and the three females consist of 2 pekins and one khaki.
This pekin recently started laying. Yesterday, I could hear a croaking sound when she was panting and her quack was deeper than the day before. She was not interested in the...
So, she is inside and seems okay. She has not gotten worse by any means; her poop is normal and is eating and drinking. Her voice is definitely a little deeper, my boyfriend confirmed it. Funny thing is, I have her separated by a baby gate from my male indoor pekin, and they are doing the mating...
You seem to be right. She is inside now with her pedialyte water and she is doing better, it seems! I am going to monitor her for at least another day, I think. I don't want to have her go back too soon and miss any signs of it being anything worse. Thank you so much! Will keep you updated!
So, I brought her inside and put flavorless pedialyte in her water with some lettuce and mealworms to encourage her to get the electrolytes. Her panting has stopped completely and her tail is not bobbing and she is walking around her enclosed space, being her curious self. I am guessing it was a...
