Its been a stressful few days with not knowing if she would pull through and she's always been my secret favourite but today she's really picked up and starting to be her usual asshole self.
Unfortunately the vet kind of said she might have an infection (shrug) and prescribed her Baytril. She...
Hi all,
I recently put a post up regarding one of my lovely ladies, Ed, who had a suspected respiratory infection. After a trip to the vets and a few days on antibiotics she is starting to show improvement, although she has required a bit of force feeding she's starting to eat on her own now...
Well I've just made her eggs and tuna. She wouldn't eat it on her own. She would peck it but never pick it up. I managed to get a few peices In her beak and she ate them with a bit of assistance. I'll hand feed her for a few days if I have to.
Well I've had her to the vets but they don't specialise in chickens. We have antibiotics but her weight it really low. I'm going to treat the flock for worms tomorrow and hope for the best but her future isn't look bright.
Hi, thanks for the reply. She's separated as we are lucky to have another coop. I've got her booked in with a vet tomorrow that caters to chickens so hopefully we can get her some antibiotics.
One of my girls is looking a little under the weather. She's very lethargic and all fluffed up with a snotty looking nose and a bit of heavy breathing when she's sleeping. She's still laying but isn't as interested in the usual treats. She started looking a bit unwell yesterday so we've just...
He's always been great with the cat so we dropped on lucky. They play for hours and if he got the chance he'd try to do with the same with the chickens. I don't doubt he'll get a few pecks for trying his luck at some point.
The dog loves to lay outside the coop and guard them. He's traditionally a herder so he's got no aggression towards them at all and they don't mind him being around either.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I just got my chickens this past weekend. So we are very new to them but I'm already hooked and so in love with my ladies.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
3 at the minute but I doubt it will stay that way for long...
This is good to know. I'm a new chicken mum and I've been taking the ladies a chopped banana for breakfast when I go up on a morning but I've been composting the skin.
