(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I just got my chickens this past weekend. So we are very new to them but I'm already hooked and so in love with my ladies.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

3 at the minute but I doubt it will stay that way for long.

(3) What breeds do you have?
I have an Amber named Shenzi, a blacktail named Banzai, and a Speckledy named Ed.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
They're just fun to watch. Can't wait for my first egg.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
We're both very active and we spend a lot of time up at the allotment. It was severely I overgrown when we got it and we are finally getting near to actually be able to place something.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
We have Geno the Finnish Lapphund and Husker the cat. Geno already loves his feathery sisters. I also have Eski the weekend Samoyed.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?

I found the community from looking for advice on chickens when we first decided to go ahead with getting them. I joined because I liked what I found.

Nice looking crew! Husker looks like he's a handful. I know someone will come along in just a minute a tell you what breed hens you have. Welcome.

The dog loves to lay outside the coop and guard them. He's traditionally a herder so he's got no aggression towards them at all and they don't mind him being around either.
Lucky you. Any of my three would eat my flock in minutes if given the chance.
