    Hello--Need help

coop bedding- what do you prefer??

Crap. I was hoping to find an easy answer to this too! My day old babies arrived today and will be brooding for a while, all of which, I will be working on building the coop!! They are adorable and I love walking in the garage and hearing their tiny little baby chirps!!

    I'm in Louisville!

I am getting my "mail order chicks" today and am curious about where to put them! I have turned a large cardboard box into a brooding area! I'm on the fence as to where they should go. Would my detached garage be too HOT for them? Or should I put them down in my basement with a heat lamp...

I grew up with EE's that layed pastels, green, blue, pink! I loved them and sort of want to re-create what I remember! I'm afraid of getting Ameraucana's and having only green eggs. I'd like to get the variety!

I am trying to find babies. No one here has them and I'm concerned about ordering and having them shipped! I want three EE and three Barred Rock. as close in age as possible, chicks and female. Not an easy task! Your EE in the pic is adorable!

Thank you all for the replies!! My husband is relieved to know that three nesting boxes will be okay! I'm excited to get started building the coop. Just wish our weather would cooperate. We are both on OT right now at work...six days, so Sundays (of course, our days off) always seem to be...

Looking for chicks in Louisville Ky

I called Fresh Start Growers Supply and they will be selling Plymouth Rocks at (if I remember correctly) 8 weeks and 12 weeks old. They don't sell same day chicks. I am ordering from Meyer Hatchery (if you are interested in going in on my order to save shipping!) and expecting delivery at end...

Just started raising chicks 3 days ago and so far so good :)

I grew up with chickens and two Guineas! They will be great on your new/old farm! They'll alert you to anything strange! Ours used to chase away neighbor dogs and foxes!! Congrats!!

    Kentucky people

City Ordinance doesn't say anything about age. Just five hens, one Roo. I'm ordering three Easter Eggers and three Plymouth Rock. I've been looking at Meyer Hatchery in Ohio. I am hoping to find a local place that can order for me, since shipping on six tiny chicks is $28!
