A plastic cooler? A coffin( all metal insulated cooler) won't leach chemical smells or flavors. I would say it was the ice or cooler. Was the cooler set out in the hot sun before hand?

I have one, just haven't gotten out to set it all up yet. was checking birds this morning and letting my older ducks and juveniles out and noticed sonething got into the baby ducks pen, not sure how yet havent had time to look it over, just grabbed the survivor and brought it inside.

They are under my chick brooder so not much movement over the box to freak them out. The small one is so happy to have someone to sleep with lol
