Just noticed that I have a hen and a roo that are coughing today. The weather ahs been all over the place as far as temperature 60s-30s, and up and down as well as, rain, wind and snow. Then chcikens have been spending a LOT of time inside. Just wondering what I should use, and should I keep...
We have consistently been getting a dozen eggs a day. Including our 3 Bantam hens laying daily. Today we got 15. It's snowing and cold but the heated coop must be doing a good job of keeping my chicks happy! ;)
We only had 10 at 7a, one of our australorp hens crushed a guinea egg while preparing to lay.:( So only 10 at 8a. However, I feel bad for several of my hens. I was almost certain the ducks somehow managed to get into the nesting boxes. I had 4 HUGE eggs this morning, and know that they weren't...
8 today. But the temps have been in the low 30s high 20s at night and only low 40s to high 30s during the day. So. I kind of expect there to be a drop in production our at the very least a slowing in laying.
Meyer Hatchery has birds 16-20 weeks old currently. They are about $13 a peice. And I believe they are ready to start layi ng or are laying already. :) I checked it out a few nights ago.
I was wondering what breeds I should get to add colorto my collections of eggs? I have mostly brown layers right now with a few creams/pinkish and white. I was wanting to add Ameraucanas and Olive Eggers... I want my collections to be colorful. SSuggestion please. Thanks in advance.
Next spring I would like to add some Ameraucanas and Olive Eggers to my flock. How expensive are these breeds typically? If anyone knows of a reputable breeder or hatcheries near Northwest Ohio. Thanks in advance.
