Rescue hen but what is she?

Looks exactly like our Easter Eggers. Expect blue eggs. So similar in age and appearance that I would be hard pressed to deny she's from the same parents and hatch. In fact ... Were she thrown in with mine, we'd have hard time picking her back out.

Your secondary may have kicked in, too, if your primary allowed the temp to reach the secondary's minimum. Glad you got it back working. Two nights ago, a big storm took out our power for nearly 4 hours. I was awake when the power went out, so we immediately jumped up, closed the vents, and...

    Jamesway incubator help

Search this site for info about Leahy incubators. Some of the links there have info on Jamesway. I bet you purchased the pair that appeared on Atlanta's craigslist recently! I have heard great things about these incubators. Good luck!

New 10'x10' wooden shed kit for $650 a good deal?

We purchased one of those, then learned that you must supply the flooring and th roof material, and there are no sill plates (studs attach directly to floor). So after you spend the money to complete it properly ... You've spent a lot more than $650. All in all, though, it is precut and drilled...

Regarding digital thermostats, it is definitely something I had considered. In fact, one of the mods here at BYC has a new GQF digital thermostat to sell, if she hasn't already done so. I looked into it, and I don't think that it would be hard at all to install. I haven't done it because my...

    Just wondering....

We use a mini mag light with the rubber anti-roll sleeve on the top that's been converted to LED. It's very bright, candles very well with that rubber cap slid off about a quarter of an inch, and can be had for under $20. Welsummer eggs candle OK. Marans, on the other hand, Oh my.

The switches under the wafers get sticky. My backup switch is sticky. It resists the pressure from the wafer and, therefore, doesn't respond quickly. I've heard you can squirt a little WD-40 on the button, but that didn't help mine. My backup thermostat will maintain a temp +/- 2 degrees. My...

Dave, we couldn't get our humidity up above 48% until we added a solid shelf above the heater. You've got to get the air directed across a sheet of water. The shelf needs to be thin and the water pan should be no deeper than 1.5". As soon as we added that shelf under our cookie sheet of water (a...

Dave, please tell me how you do your staggered hatches. Until I was convinced otherwise, here is what I had planned: set eggs in top tray. One week later, move that tray to 2nd position and set new eggs in top tray. Continue until trays are full, oldest at bottom and newest at top, maintaining...

We recently purchased a 416 and I am totally in love with it. No results yet, but are expecting! It had been completely refurbished by a local guy who picks these up and fixes them up for sale, as a hobby. Our first batch of eggs are due to hatch April 2. We have had no trouble whatsoever with...
