When I clean my nesting boxes and put in new clean straw I sprinkle a little sevin dist 5%......never had a problem.........hope this helps. BTW I never stopped eating the eggs.

Although I use bleach too.........Estes Hatchery has it posted on their website to NEVER use bleach for feeders, waterers. I used bleach before I ever read that and I continue to use it since it's the only way I knew of to get the darn things clean. Just thought I'd mention it.
