I would have to agree with the rest. I am really new to this, but even my Roo eats laying crumbles. He is still very manly. I don't think it matters all that much as long as they are fed.
Ok I checked. Three of the CW have red earlobes and the other 2 are pearly. Does that mean the ones with red are not CW? It doesn't really matter to me what color egg they lay, I would just like to know what they are, and if I should be expecting to get more brown eggs.
Thanks, I'll check that. Most of them are pearly looking, but I'll make sure. We got the hens from a friend who is moving, so I'm just going off what he said the breeds are.

Thanks, I appreciate your help. I live out in the country and only have one close neighbor, but she has a yellow lab, and some kind of dalmation spaniel mix. I am most worried about her dogs. They are not fenced in, or leashed at all and they pretty much run free all over the area. I thought...
I have 12 hens and 1 roo and we are getting a new puppy. I want to get them both used to each other, so hopefully the dog will protect them from other dogs in the neighborhood. The chickens are housed in a pen in our barn and let out to a free ranging pen in the day. I was thinking about...
I have never tried the duct tape, but I've been tempted. I finally resorted to safety pinning my little one's pajama zipper on the inside. Then she became a contortionist and figured out how to get them off without unzipping. They are a joy!
