    Mites!!! :-(

I have been fighting these buggers for a year and a half. I started reading about the life cycle of mites and found conflicting information. One site says 3 weeks, dig deeper and some say 3 months. (it's definitely not 3 weeks, I can confirm that!) I've tried dusting, bathing, spinosads...

Hi- I am considering getting some breeding stock of bantam phoenix. I am not aware of the intricacies of the variety breeding. Is there a certain color variety that is better for a beginner? Thanks for your time!

Lookin' Good! You and I have at least that in common. I do what I want and husband will get over it eventually. One year, my daughter and I took a picture of the emu and texted it to him with the caption "it could be worse." Not sure he found it funny, but we enjoyed the joke.

Here's the babies now at 5 and 8 weeks. One of the bigger ones is a cockerel. You are welcome to have him anytime. Not sure where you are. I am in Evergreen, but will be at a show on Saturday in Longmont/Boulder area.

Uzisuzuki, you are an addict. I've managed to hatch 4 this year, pretty sure one of the two old chicks is male. They are only 4 weeks old and 3 weeks old, so have a bit of growing yet to do. Our winter, although mild, lasted until June, so our hen didn't lay until almost July. Have two hens, but...

my daughter has a breeding project of Belgian d'Anvers, so I'm always unloading the cockerels free/$5.00 and I always manage to get rid of them. Sold several young Am last spring and they went quick. We did a flock reduction last fall and sold them for between 10-20. The $10 girls were molting...

What do you do to keep your flock healthy (mite/lice free)?

I've struggled with Northern Fowl mite and the poultry dust knocks it down, but doesn't eradicate and has to be treated every 2-3 days because of life cycle. I am considering trying a spinosad product. I wouldn't treat your birds unless you have evidence of a problem. Been doing a lot of reading...

    Any Dutch bantam silver breeders?

Hi- check out Facebook. There are a few breeders on a group there. (Don't have access to names now.) I hear finding SOP quality silvers is a bit challenging. Haven't had the courage to discuss this with the actual breeders....I never see them at show in Co.
