This morning I went in the pen to get the food bowl, which I do twice a day everyday. they pigs normally just sniff me and make my legs dirty. but today Stella ( my female) actually put my ankle in her mouth. she never bit down- just put her around me. should I be worried that she is going to...
thank you, I do move them, and put them outside when I go in to check for eggs. I don't think that the babies would be big enough to really survive the winter if they were to hatch in a few weeks.
maybe in spring Ill let them hatch a couple out.
I have 3 chickens that want to sit- they will all sit in the laying box all day and id assume all night, even when there are no eggs under them. How do I get them to stop? they have brought my daily egg count way down. Im not sure if its because they stopped laying hoping to hatch what they are...
I have one NHR that seems to way to "lay in bed' all the time- if you go close to her, she will move- but other then that she just stays put in one of the boxes. She seems to have a rattle sound in her lungs- which would be a lot like us having a chest cold. and a "bark" type cough. Her staying...
I am thinking about trying my hand at hatching. I've seen posts about humidity etc- it does look a bit scary... any insights would be great! I have been looking into incubators etc, they do look a bit pricey.
Does anyone know where to get ducks- other then tractor supply etc- they had 3 when we were there today, but wouldnt sell only 3. apparently maine law is they have to sell 6? - I would only want a few to see if I could handle them. we have 1 rooster, 9 hens- one of the hens is sitting, dont know...
*bump. I am also having the same problem now that Ive moved my older ones into the new coop with the babies.. I want it to stop, the poor babies are becoming featherless!
Did this actually work? I was coming online tonight to ask this exact question. We were getting 8 eggs a day...and now only one or two. My husband things one of our "older" chickens are eating the eggs again- our "babies" were laying everyday- so we should atleast be getting 4 4 a day! How do I...
