Chicken stands with legs parted - won't squat.

OMG…the chicken in the picture of the link you sent me is exactly how she is standing and her breathing is laboured. Like I said, her stomach is full and her breast bone is so prominent. Poor thing…how can I put her down humanly. Anyone know:(

Chicken stands with legs parted - won't squat.

Thanks guys, I have a large dog crate that I can put in the coop and that will keep them apart, but she will still be with them. Dugh, I should have thought of that. As far as the other chicken goes, I will go to the link and read up on it. I am going to post a picture of her so you can see...

Chicken stands with legs parted - won't squat.

I have this chicken that's about 3 years old and she's stopped laying. She stands with her legs wide apart and can't squat down to sleep. I have her in my basement as I thought she was egg bound and might be, but it's been over two weeks that she's like this. I have given her warm baths and...

    Foul smelling bird

Just checked out your link to vent gleet and I'm going to try the suggestions there. Her butt wasn't as nasty as the bird in the pic. but it just might be. Can't hurt anyway.

    Foul smelling bird

How do I give her the tums if she won't eat it. I crushed it up and put it in with her food and held it up for her to eat, she took a couple of bites and that was all. There's an odor coming from her and I just don't know what it is. I am going to look at that site right now. Thanks for your...

    Foul smelling bird

I have this chicken who is at least two probably three years old and I live in Ontario Canada where the temperature outside right now is -20 with the wind chill and it has been so for a couple of days. I am keeping my chickens in with a heat lamp turned on to help with keeping them warm and I...

Rats in my coop and stealing my eggs

I have a 4 stall barn and my chicken coop is out back. In the coop I have 25 birds which three are ducks that roost on the floor. I get about 3 to 6 eggs a day and that's all. I know I have rats because I am trapping them in the barn and they're big suckers. I also have two cats that live in the...

    Black Combs

I did last night, but not on the feet…good idea, I try it tonight. Today when I checked in on them, Boomer, the one that was limping, seemed a little better today. I think he might of hurt it when he flies down of the perches. He could have landed wrong. I'll keep watching to see if it improves.

    Black Combs

It's been -20C with the wind chill, but they usually stay in the coop at that temp. I open the door and give them the choice to go out or stay in. The other birds seem fine. Last night I doctored both by roe's and checked their feet to see if something was causing the limp and I couldn't find...

    Black Combs

Just since the snow has started and I have changed the water feeder to nipples instead of free drinking I have noticed that my two BO roos have started to show black on the tips of their combs.I thought at first it might be frost bite, but none of the other birds seem affected and after reading...

Chick acts "drunk" can't figure out what's wrong??

It's weird that all the chickens seamed to be doing better then relapsed and died. I just hope I don't see it in any of my other chickens any time soon. Just to let you all know, I am getting 8 baby chicks in June and am thrilled. I have ordered 4 Buff Orpington and 4 Silver laced Wyandotte and...
