    Shell-less eggs.

Link didn't work. I have read that new layers lay without shells sometimes, but for her to be 2/9 normal eggs is a little scary. My chickens aren't stressed much. The most stress I've seen them have is pacing along the fence wanting out of their run. And the occasional freak-out when the pitbull...

This is what the BO just laid though. And my egg basket today vs yesterday.

    Shell-less eggs.

I have found about 6 eggs without shells in the past week or so. I cook the ones I find up for the hens, but I've found 2 others broken on the bottom of the coop, 2 skins of the eggs in their run (probably eaten) and 2-3 that I've found intact. I have a sneaking suspicion that it's my one EE...

UGH! My hens are not laying!!!

Picture of the two EE and the Brown Leghorn from today. The BO was in the coop laying. Einstein is the black one (75% Ameraucana) Darwin the adopted EE. Hawking the Leghorn.

UGH! My hens are not laying!!!

No supplemental lighting. We have landscape lighting that comes on at dusk and goes off at 1am, but that's about it. The coop is pretty open in terms of what light comes in, and they're out and about as soon as the sun comes up. I live in Southern California. There aren't many places for them...

UGH! My hens are not laying!!!

A little bit of background info. I hatched Einstein, she was the only one out of 8, so I bought 3 chicks for her as companions as she wouldn't stop screaming. If you held her she'd stop, but other than that it was constant noise. I figured she was lonely. They included the BO, Leghorn, and an...

UGH! My hens are not laying!!!

I have 4 hens. A Buff Orpington, a Brown Leghorn, and two Easter Eggers. (Ones' mix being 75% Ameraucana, 25% BCM... I hatched her) The hen I hatched turned 6 months old yesterday 10-29. and the other 3 are 4-7 days older than her. I know that Easter Eggers can be late bloomers, but neither...

    First EGGS!!

Well shoot!! I bought her as a Welsummer. I hate white eggs, they're so boring T_T I wanted a rainbow basket. That also explains the personality a little bit better. She is a trouble maker. Are the eggs still okay to eat if they were laid a couple days ago??

How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

Today I got my first real eggs EVER!! I have 4 pullets at 21 weeks old and last week there was an egg on the bottom of the coop that had a leathery shell and was broken. Today the Welsummer went missing and we found her sitting in some leaf litter. After she got up, this is what I found... 3...

    First EGGS!!

I was roused out of bed today by "the skinny brown chicken is gone and I can't find her". She was with the other 3 earlier, and I was told that there was a BIG commotion during a conference call and when it was over she had vanished. My thoughts were between: she probably laid an egg and got...

    Looking more like a wellsummer.

do i have a roo or hen?

Pullet. Cone and waddle development isn't far along enough to be a rooster IMO.

    Gender, the dreaded EasterEggers.

I was so bummed, I thought I would have had to get rid of them. But now, I'm so happy!! Darwin is my second favorite!! She loves to cuddle and is the most comical out of my bunch. She lived by herself for the first two weeks before I brought her in to my flock. I think that has something to do...

Does anyone know what kind of chicken this is?

I was thinking welsummer at first, but the one I'm raising now never had that much white in the face. At least not with that much tail. Do you have more pictures?
