Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I am loving all these Ameraucana pics! One of my favorite breeds. :) Unfortunately we had to sell ours before we moved. Now that we are settled I can't wait to get some again. Can anyone help me find a place to order wheaten/blue wheaten chicks or eggs?

    IA here

Yes, lots of trolls here. :) The Mustard Museum moved to Middleton. They used to be in Mt. Horeb. In fact, they had their big opening the day we were married, so I share my Anniversary with National Mustard Day. LOL!

    IA here

Hello! We will be moving to Iowa this fall, and will be buying some acreage within 30-40 miles of Des Moines. I raise Swedish Flower Hens and have Easter Eggers, too. Anyone else around Des Moines?

    Swedish Flower Hen Thread

It seems that in the chicks I hatched, the roo's legs yellow earlier than the pullets. Anyone else notice that too, or is it just a fluke?

What gender are these Easter Eggers?

    Thanks everyone! Great news! :)

What gender are these Easter Eggers?

I will get some pics of combs tomorrow. They are very small, and no redness, which made me think pullets initially....

What gender are these Easter Eggers?

They are 13 weeks old. I thought pullets for awhile because their combs are dull and small, but their tail growth is worrying me that they are Roos. There are three- the partridge colored ones.

    Swedish Flower Hen Thread

I had the same thing happen- twice. Both batches had 16 eggs, and I only got 3 chicks each hatch. I was floored the first time because we have been hatching our own EE eggs for many months with about a 95% hatch rate. We threw three thermometers and hygrometers in there for the second hatch...

    Swedish Flower Hen Thread

Thanks, I was pretty sure about the black/white one, but thought the other two may have been cockerels. Two hens would be great.

Any guesses on these 3 chicks- roos or pullets? They are almost 7 weeks old.

Hello everyone! I sold 3 roosters this a.m. :weee. My daughter was in tears because they were the first chickens we hatched. She was very attached, but what can you do- we don't need three roosters. We have some Swedish Flower eggs hatching today. I hope I get a better hatch rate this time...
