Hi there
I have 2 embden goslings around 9 weeks old that live with my chicks and am not sure what to do for nesting boxes. I know they don't lay eggs until spring but am just planning ahead. I have 6 chicken boxes and am planning to create one large enough for a goose.
Material suggestions...
Hi there!
My chicks are 9 weeks old and are getting moved into the coop finally this week. I was wondering when I should setup my nesting boxes and put straw in them or if it’s possible to do it too early.
Also thoughts on best thing to put in nesting boxes?
Yes the scratch and peck chick feed did include niacin but I doubt the cheaper one I switched to contains it. I may go back to that food or an all flock.
Hi I'm looking for brand and types of food suggestions for my goslings and chicks. (goslings are 3 weeks old arrived late)
I have been feeding them chick starter with 20 percent protein. Not sure if I should change it before 8 weeks of age which is the age on the bag to switch to layer feed...
Awesome setup. Yes it is definitely cooler here up north, more so in winter than summer. But they did enjoy having outside playtime today and swimming in a baby pool. Cute to watch them swim!
Yeah they both should be ready to move outside but my coop does not arrive until beginning of August so I put them in the larger “pen” setup temporarily. I will continue to let them have some outside time too.
Yes it would probably take around 2 bags but many people enjoy the deep litter method which does not use as much. I still would prefer this to sand even without that method. You could compost the shavings or through them away in plastic bags like I do.
Got it thanks. I just moved them to a larger area recently so as long as the chickens are not bleeding or severely injured I might just try to wait it out. Distractions like food do help temporarily too...
I enjoy using pine shavings. They are very affordable and you should only have to change them every week or two depending on the the number of chickens you have/coop size. I can get a large bag of pine/other wood shavings for around 6 or 7 dollars.
Ok thank you so much I will add some pictures tomorrow! And of course include some cute pictures. I am planning on breeding them that is why the gender is very important. I am also new to rabbits.
I need help/advice that can help me distinguish the genders of my bunnies. I have a supposed male and female according to the breeder. But now I checked their genitalia and I cannot tell what the genders are. I am thinking that they may be reversed of the genders we thought they were.
I was...
