I think if you leave them in the coop you might see more egg production when they start laying. they could be already laying but doing it outside of the coop. My egg production goes up tremendously when I leave the hens locked up.
My latest batch of baby guineas are not eating and drinking as far as I can tell. I have lost 5 already since they hatched out. I have them in an old horse watering tub with cedar chips which I have been successful with raising 3 other hatches in but for some reason I don't see this group eating...
We had the same problem when we tried to put younger chicks in with a little bit older chicks and the older ones actually killed one of the younger ones. Another of the younger ones was pecked up pretty badly but survived. Yours probably will after a little recovery time. Guess can't bring them...
So if one is using eggs from their own chickens, when should you take them from the coop and place them in the incubator? The day they are laid? Do you wash the eggs prior to placing in incubator? Help!!!
How long after a chicken lays an egg before it needs to be refrigerated? I work 12 hours shifts and it is sometimes 14 hours before I might find an egg! I am very new to this stuff and would appreciate any advice. Thanks, I love this website!!
