They can have some pretty strange crows when they start out but in my experience they get their poop in a group in a few months of practice....Are you a Frank Zappa fan? One of my many favorite songs of his is "The muffin man" lol
I have had an occasional blue egg from my jumbo browns....had a few that were half blue and half normal spotted. Not sure why....they were normal size though.
Years back I had some golden campiness, the coloring is almost right but campines have a very distinct white ear lobe and a very upright and longer tail even on the hens. Your bird has the leg coloring of a EE. I would agree with the rest that its an EE
no the air cell will move to the top of egg as embryo positions itself to hatch...so anyway you position them they will be fine....that of course assuming they are still good when you get to lockdown. The first ones that hatch will most likely move the late hatching eggs around as they dry out...
I incubate in a rack large end up...and can say I never had saddled air cell with many shipped egg hatches. Probably to late to try this for your current hatch though. I lay them on the side out of rack for lockdown does not matter one side or other the chick will position itself during the 3...
Sorry to hear about your loss...I ended up with 8 healthy chicks out of 13. 3 eggs never developed and the other two were very developed just never hatched, not sure why but for mail order eggs I guess that's better than good!
Got 5 in the brooder and 1 zipping when I left to work this morning....6 for 13 so far from shipped eggs from Texas. Very dark shelled olive eggers so could not see squat via candling....Will see if I can get over the 50% shipped egg standard!
that should work just fine. I use a door stop wedge that happened to be there when I was looking for something..
I have 13 eggs at 14 days today. Good luck!
And yes to I have hatched many shipped eggs this way with good luck. Depends a lot on if the American tourister gorilla gets hold of your eggs while at usps....May want to request seller to hold at PO for you to pick up. I had one shipment delivered into my black mail box on a hot day....they...
yes...I have never used the auto turner in mine. I use a door stop wedge moved from one side to the other to rock the whole incubator. Has worked very well for me. I try to rock it 3 to 5 times a day. no need to start rock'n until day 3. At lockdown I take them out of rack and lay them on their...
The humidity where I am is also very high the only way I was able to bring it down to 30- 40 range was a room dehumidifier, works great but cost is an issue. I already had one because if we dont' run one in the summer we get mold problems....I have tried using rice and or dessicant packs with...
I would take it out or at least blot most of it out....the change won't affect the eggs. it averages out over the 18 days of lockdown, humidity is just the means you use to control air cell development as high as it' been since you started, I would dry it up immdiately then get it back up at...
oops hit send...if the air cell is developing on schedule you are good regardless of humidity percentage. If the air cell is not getting bigger as you go, your humidity is to high.
