I never saw this behavior until recently! My Black Star was sitting on eggs that I wanted and she started trilling while tossing pine shavings on her back. Crazy “momma wanna be”!
Just noticed the same behavior from my Black Star! I assumed she was broody with the trilling and soft clucking while she was throwing shavings on her back. Glad I’m not the only one! Came here looking for this.
I have 4 Black Star pullets with red earlobes and a fifth with white earlobes. All 5 pullets lay different variations of brown eggs, some are shiny, some are dull, some have splatter spots. Great friendly personalities!
I have 4 Black Star pullets with red earlobes. The fifth has white earlobes. I just accept the fact that these are not a pure breed but have a little ‘this and that’ mixed in over time. Is there a true 100% anything? They do have the green iridescent color and wonderful friendly personality.
