They didn't hatch. On eggtopsy the chicks were fully formed, the veins on the inner membrane turned brown and the fluid surrounding the chicks in that membrane was the colour of maple syrup. Yolk was nearly gone but the chicks were 'stiff'. They hadn't moved for 24hrs or more and failed the...
My day 18 hatcher died yesterday. That left me with a lone little one we named Moet. I have just picked up these new day olds! Meet Chandon, Dom Perignon, Bollinger, Lanson & Louis de Sacy!
Thankyou to all who offered advice and support xx
No, only had the 2 hatch. But I have 2 eggs in the incy I'm hanging out on. Saw them rocking yesterday. They 'passed' the float test but didn't see movement until after I put them back in the incy. Being day 24 now, I'm not hopeful.
2 eggs in the incubator are rocking! And very excited that one is from my DGL barndevelder over my silver spangled polish roo! Hope it hatches, can't wait to see what happens overnight!
It does look like the yolk is gone. It's a lot quieter this morning. I can't get a good look at it cause it's put itself in the far corner of the incy. But I have another zipping right now, so will just have to leave it and see.
It's been very active trying to walk, though only on it hocks still. I'm not home right now but will check on it when I'm back (later this afternoon) and pop it in a cup if it's still all uncoordinated with its movements. Thanks!!
Thankyou!
It doesn't look like it's absorbed all the yolk, there is a bit of a hole on its stomach, say a penny size. It's tummy still looks egg shaped. Is there anything I should do?
