I have free range guineafowl, and one male turned up today with this same problem. I caught him and couldn't find any injuries, just walking on his hocks with toes slightly curled. Could this be a deficiency too, or a genetic problem? He is a little over a year old.
Okay that's good to know. We may have had some accidental inbreeding but I was always worried their food didn't have everything they needed too. At least I know which eggs to eat lol
Thank you! I have a couple kiddos starting to get bent toes and I taped them. They also have some red parts on their faces, I don't know if it has to do with their color changing or it may be a deficiency. They have not been outside yet, their outdoor coop should be ready this week assuming the...
Sorry to resurrect this thread, but can you tell me if I could take my own B complex vitamin and put it in their water? I have capsules with powder inside that would be easy to use, but I also have no idea how much they should get.
Yeah that makes sense, perhaps I should have scrambled them, but the ones I took out were totally clear so I think I won't have any surprises when I peel them 🤣
All my keets still seem happy and healthy. I think people have asked before, but I have a lot of guinea eggs that I incubated this last week that are still totally clear, so I think they stopped getting busy. Do you think it would be dangerous to boil the unfertilized ones and feed them to the...
Well I hope I didn't kill all my keets. The feed we had was only 12% protein and 2% calcium, I finally found a feed a couple weeks ago with 16% but I think the calcium is 4%. I guess I'm starting over again. The last time I asked them for some sort of game bird starter they gave me a bag with a...
Sorry, back at it again! I try taking pictures, but they are always blurry, so I tried putting up a video instead. My whitish one does have little white spots on her feathers, so she isn't actually white, is that something like buff? And are the lighter ones brown do you think? I can't wait to...
I actually have tried to pick up some bugs and earthworms for them when I can, we have tons of ladybugs lately. We also have a ton of slugs, but I heard the sticky residue can bother their throat? We don't have much winter to speak of, so things grow here well all year, I just need to figure...
Unfortunately no, I can use Amazon Spain, but I haven`t been able to find anything like that yet. It is a bit more limited than the US Amazon. Chewy wont ship to Europe.
I promise I am not trying to be difficult, I have learned so much from everyone's posts here. Where we are, most people don't make more than €500 a month, so if they have farm animals they use them as food. I think I'm about the only person that treats them as pets, everyone asks why we don't...
Ah okay, is it any B Complex supplement? I take one myself, just wasn't sure if it was safe for them. Also wondering how to get vitamin E for them if I need it.
Yes sorry I forgot to mention we are in the Azores. It's remote and even things from mainland Europe can't be shipped here. Most people here seem to just let their fowl free range and use as little feed as possible. I had to lock my adults up after they supposedly killed the neighbors chickens...
I've been incubating keets for a couple months now, I have 22 now of varying age (Plus their 4 parents). The best food we could find was 16% so I have been giving them boiled mashed eggs every day because I thought it might help. Can anyone help me out with what else I could use to supplement...
I am feeling that pain now. First I had a keet born with a curled toe that I tried to fix for the first week and it seemed okay, now that it is a month old the foot is curled again and the keet only walks on his hocks. I don't know if the tendons are slipped or not, he just can't do more than a...
