It was nice this weekend so we had him out of his "infirmary tub" walking around the yard to strengthen his legs. His hole is even healing really well.

emys, unfortunately there isn't any nice pink flesh surrounding the hole to be able to stitch.
I will avoid peroxide going forward. Would A&D ointment help or should I get neosporin without pain medicine.
Would saline solution help?
Thanks, we have him isolated him from the rest of the flock and have him under a heat lamp in the pen as it is very cold here. We have also put up a barrier to the newly introduced chickens to the flock of existing.

When they were little they had yellow bottoms and a bit of white in their wings (which has grown/molted out)...one is so big she won't get up on the roost bar herself (just a little spoiled).

From what I've read it is common for the first eggs to not have a lot of substance to the shells but they do harden.
I haven't had any lay over night but often I've found eggs outside the coop on the ground. I figure since mine just started laying that they are not aware of what was happening...
