    Are these feet normal?

Yeah, she does! Mine had a little brown streak on her back when I got her. It’s getting replaced with feathers now. I’m certainly not mad about it. I was going for breeds I haven’t had before this year. Salmon faverolle is a new one to me! Hopefully she’s a good layer. Thanks!

    Are these feet normal?

I picked up a few chicks from TSC a few weeks ago (then picked up a few more the next week. Darn chicken math). I got a few ‘Easter eggers,’ one of which has feet I don’t think I’ve ever seen before. She’s a little attitudey about getting picked up so it wasn’t easy to get pictures of her feet...

Heavier than normal fall molt predicted hard winter?

A couple of my girls molted so much, they were practically completely bald. Clarice (black sexlink) was absolutely pathetic. Several molted like normal. And I haven’t gotten a single egg in well over a week, which has never been an issue, since their molts have all been staggered. I’ve had...

Never Have I Ever, BYC Addition! LOL

    8. And I’ve never had sick girls, but I occasionally let a spoiled one come inside for a couple minutes.

When you plant extra vegetables in the garden in spring so you know you will have enough to share with the ladies in summer.

    Aggressive Hen

My girl calmed down a bit, but does charge at me once in a while. She rarely pecks at me anymore. There was a week or two a couple months ago where I thought she was going to start up her aggressive behavior again. I kept picking her up, or gently pinning her to the ground for a little bit, and...

    Aggressive Hen

Well, it's been raining here for a few days and we expect more rain for a few more days(yay!), so she's not out and being aggressive. Guess it'll be a little bit before I can try anything new with her.

    Aggressive Hen

I haven't tried any 'tool' to push back at her yet. I have pushed with my foot if my hands are too full to pick her up. Definitely not kicking, just pushing her away. It's funny because she squats for me as soon as I reach for her. I'm not ready to give up yet, but she's pissing me off.

    Any Home Bakers Here?

@apps, I LOVE basil! My 2 plants went nuts last summer. I made a few batches of pesto, separated into 1-2 tablespoon sections wrapped in plastic & froze. Then I chopped up most of the rest & let it dry in my oven on a paper towel lined cookie sheet for a few days. It's all jarred up now in the...

    Aggressive Hen

That thought crossed my mind, but wouldn't she have other signs as well? Like being dominant over other the other girls? Or not laying? She's not always first or last to eat, she's not first or last to wake up or go to bed. She's just kind of a middle of the pack kind of bird. Except for the...

    Spring Fever!!!

I don't think I have spring fever, I just want a more colorful egg bowl. Maybe that's worse? My boyfriend keeps letting me know how much extra space we have in our 2 coops, so it would totally be OK to get some more birds, right? We have always had brown eggs, because that's just the birds we...

    Aggressive Hen

I won't put her on her back again. I've only done it maybe twice. I usually just pick her up and carry her around (whispering "I'm the flock master" haha) She started out just being aggressive once a day, like the first time I went outside. Now, she runs up on me every time I'm outside. She...

    Aggressive Hen

I've looked in the forums, and could've missed this particular behavior problem, so forgive me if this has been asked a million times before. I have 13 chickens, all hens. One from a previous flock (she's like 7 years old), 12 we got all together last summer. They are happy country chickens, and...
