Found our SBC dead this morning in the run. Saw her last around 2:00 yesterday afternoon, she seemed fine. No sign of predator, other two hens with her are fine. She started laying last July and stopped laying around October when we added a couple of pullets to her coop (she was separated from...
Out checking the water at 5:30 in the morning and heard crowing, sounded kind of lame but crowing none the less! Time to try and find a home for him. 26 weeks old btw
23 weeks and still no crowing or laying but feathering is looking more like a roo. Also not showing any signs of being aggressive and the hens still bully him/her. I'm convinced it's a rooster my wife is holding out for hen!
Spoke to seller today expressed my concerns, he feels it would be crowing by now. Also said farm he bought them from had Dominques also. Do you think this bird could be a mix?
Thank you all for your input! I will keep you posted when the jury is in! Hoping against the concenus. Can't have a roo would have to find a home for him.
Thanks again!
Seller said 14 weeks when I got them on 09/10. Seemed confident they were pullets, told me they should be laying the 1st week of December. That would be 24 weeks.
The seller got them as chicks, I guess he could be a little off on the hatch date.
