My LOVE watermelon. they only get the left over off the rind, cuz we love watermelon, too :). They ate all the tops off my kolarabi, and other tender garden bits.
Mine are spoiled as they get dried mealworms (Amazon - $60/bag) every night for being good and going into the hut for night time...
Hi Duck friends,
Hopefully this doesn't post twice. Anyone else have this phenomenon of micro duck eggs (about the size of a quail egg) from full size ducks? I thought it was from the young ones just starting out, but we have now had about 6 of them and all the ducks are laying (or molting)...
I sell duck eggs for consumption. I had someone reach out to me asking if they could be fertile (sl possibility and I told them that). My question to this formum: I keep them in the fridge - will they be able to hatch if by chance they are fertile??
Thanks
Waa hoo!!! :wee up to 2 eggs today!. I am hoping it becomes, monkey see, monkey do. once they all start -I may rethink my wishes :). 18 that have the potential to lay. My customers had to wait to fill orders last year. 2023 may be a more cost effective hobby
We free range our flock and at night they automatically head into the enclosure. I worked to "train" :lau them with treats every night so they go into the enclosure. Not sure what you mean by a tractor (movable enclosure??). That gets VERY labor intensive QUICKLY!!!! My experience; free...
Whoo Hoo!!! Super Exciting!!!!!!!
I am anxiously awaiting my girls to "kick it in gear" again!!! I have customers anxious to get back in Duck Egg Delight. Added 6 more young girls to the flock for a total of (potentially) 14 eggs/day. Have had artificial light on them since Oct. (no...
Interesting post. I am not breeding ducks for sale (I sell eggs for eating) and feel quite lucky as the ones I got from Farm and Fleet (SW Wisconsin) I learned to look for the beak color to identify the females (and it worked!!!) - my females have white heads!! :):)
Hi,
I live in SW Wisconsin and have the following female laying ducks. I have a clientele that rely on my duck eggs as they are allergic to chicken eggs and would like to give them a potential timeline for new eggs:
Muscovy: 4 YO
Khaki Campbell: 3 YO
Welsh Harlequin: 2 YO
Anacona: 4.5...
Muskovies are hilarious birds! Very different from your Welshies. They do not need as much water and are TONS quieter with funny head bobbing antics. I have a variety of breeds and love 'em all
The girls have grown and are having a blast! We now have Khaki's, Welsh Harlequin's, Muskovy, Cayuguas, Siver Appleyards, and Ancona's. I love them all, but I think the Silver Appleyards are tugging the most at my heart strings. I sell duck eggs and just love watching these silly characters...
LOL - this morning when my husband hugged me he said "You smell like a ducking"!! I was caught! Was up early to check in on my new baby ducklings and indeed, I did snuggle with a few :)
8 new babies, sexed and delivered via USPS. 3 Ancona's, 3 Cayuga's and 2 Silver Appleyard's. Thank you...
