Sorry I think I figured it out. It was definitely a case of using the wrong cable to the charger. Once I got the real insulated cable I tested the system flawlessly. Lesson learned just because it’s insulated doesn’t mean it’s sufficiently insulated.
Thank you that really helps explain the process. So based on that I think there is a short somewhere. I’m going to head over to the tractor supply and get the insulated cable and go from there
One other question if there is a short (besides) someone/thing touching them to make it short. Is...
Hi quick question as I am noticing a raccoon sniffing around the coop and run. I got the stuff for an electric fence. But forgot to get the insulated cable. I was toying around with the electric fence device and the meter. I just connected the ground without connecting the positive to anything...
Thanks for the confirmation on them being hens! Sorry I thought I said 4x6 is the coop. So yeah I think I am maxed out. Let me see how these go before I start counting my eggs before they hatch (pun intended)
I wish I had the time to raise them from chicks. Maybe I will look for a hen with chicks.
I have a 4x6 coop with 5 nesting spots. Figure I can comfortably go up to 10
The pic was not the finished product I added 1/2 in hardware cloth as well. The run is still a work in progress as it’s 70 percent 1 x 2 fencing and 30 hardware cloth. Ultimately I want to get all hardware cloth and bury it. Plus use wood posts to add netting on top to protect against hawks...
I live next to a wooded area as well but not a huge one. I know I have seen raccoons possums and hawks but was also told to watch for foxes and weasels as well. Never saw those though. And I have several cameras but it’s possible weasels are too small to active the motion sensor.
Oh I will def get them better feed I thought 16 percent is good. I am the most over protective person so I don’t like to know they are doing without. Esp security I am debating on putting an electric fence to protect against raccoons and others. I was told about weasels and they are freaking me...
