Son my 6 girls, 2 are Buffs and 4 are RiR, and about 9 months old. I live in the upper Midwest where it can be a harsh winter, and have been getting 5-6 eggs a day and such.
I am wondering if they will molt this winter? Do I need to hear their night time area? I have a heated dog waterer...
Most of all their combs and wattles are bright red. The two BOs hunker down or crouch as you said when touched on the back. I have not examined their vents....
My 2 BOs and 4 RIRs are about 20 weeks. Over the past 3 weeks, I have received a total of 4 eggs. Should this be cause for concern, or will they all start popping out the eggs regularly, soon?
4 RIRs and 2BOs for me. They're about 19 weeks old. I have plucked 3 total eggs in the last 3 weeks.
I don't know which ones are producing the eggs, but should I be concerned, or is this normal production for these breeds and their age?
I posted this when I got my first egg 3 days ago. I am not sure when it was laid, but I am yet to get another egg since I found this one. Should I be concerned?
Ironically, I hadn't checked the nesting area for a few days, just went and looked and found an egg. I just started them on layer feed 2 days ago. What I had read here and elsewhere is that 18 weeks was an appropriate age to begin layer feed.
Can some folks Look at my photo album and tell me how many hens and how many Roos I have? I was supposed to have 6 hens, and they are now 15 weeks old. Please help! For some reason, I can't upload the pictures to the thread.
