So Excited! Picking Up 2 New Does Saturday!

Quote: Glad to know you are there. We have two wethers and are thinking about getting a doe later on. I will keep you in mind, we are in Berkeley Springs, not too far. The breeder that we got them from warned us they would become addicting. She is right!

Goat people - babies are here!!!

They are soooo cute! I remember when we got out two little boys last year. They are wethers, pets for my children. But of course, since then we have been considering getting another. I think we are going to look at getting a doe. Out littler one is the ham too! So cute. Congrats!

    Any idea on breed?

He is smaller than a standard size. The hens he was with are Brahmas. Here is a close up of his head. I have looked up some other pictures on other websites and he does look like he is mostly Golden Duckwing. He is young also, less than a year old.

    Any idea on breed?

Urgent Reminder-PLEASE Quarantine Newly Acquired Birds!

I have since found out that favus is not that bad and can be treated. There is still not much info out there so if anyone else has any "direct care" info to share, would be great. All of my research and getting the coop ready for the new chickens may have been for naught. After spending the...

Urgent Reminder-PLEASE Quarantine Newly Acquired Birds!

Quote: We are new to raising chickens and just got three hens and a rooster from someone who had too many. He did tell us when he gave them to us that they had a little fungus infection that could be treated. Since these are the first chickens we got, we did not have to worry about them...
