    Dad Jokes😂

My dad accused me of being afraid of work. I reassured him I wasn't. I told him I had no problem laying down next to it and going to sleep.

I'm open to other siding options. I'm thinking 5/8" T1-11 is cheapest and easiest way. Ply wood sheathing with vinyl siding? Or shingles? How would I hide the nails that punch through? Plywood walls inside too? So many options. Yes to the overhangs. Been looking at roofing options. The amount...

    Woods question - again :)

Thank you Mia. @aart My coop article is Woods%20Open%20Air%20Coop.%20Scaled%20to%206x10']here[/URL] @Ted Brown , free is always good. I'm thinking the same as you. Simple single sash with tempered glass.

    Woods question - again :)

Yup, tractor. It's only 6x10. It'll be on two 2x8 runners. Worst case, I'll put it on 4x4 for skids. I saw MiaS was online today.

    Woods question - again :)

Where did you buy the shed windows from? I am trying to decide wether to build or buy. I am laying out a 6x10 Woods Open-Air tractor. I might be able to build cheaper than buying. Shed windows are not easy to find on-line

Woods Open Air Coop. Scaled to 6x10

I have been doing a lot of research here in BYC about building this Woods' house. Probably the best article (so far) is by Howard E. When searching for articles, use the TAG option of search. For search terms, type "woods" or "open"; you can select terms like woods coop, woods house, or open air...

    Starting with hatchery stock?

In this vein, I say: get both. A quality breeding group. (Rooster, two or three hens) and a run of NH Reds. If the breeder is local enough, they are a resource. I'm sure they would want to see their line be successful. Lessons learned can be applied to the NH Reds immediately.

    Old coop renovation questions

Since the run is covered, I agree with Mary (Folly's place). Not much will grow there with out the rain and sun. This will keep the mud down. Do you plan to let them out and about some? aart is right about the window to the north into the barn. I wouldn't do it myself. Large windows and a...

    Caponizing Tools

I wish I had experience... In researching better tools for caponizing, I ran across this website for surgical tools: Blacksmith Surgical. The catalogs are awesome (open the pdf file, don't just click on the icon) for showing all kinds of tools. Really helped with seeing the different...

    Caponizing Tools

Any updates? I am looking at going this route. A dissection kit with retractor. I also hope to try and make my own extractor. But that won't be until I start trying caponizing next year. I am real interested to know if the 4x3 Weitlaner retractor or the 3x2 retractor is the best size. Just...

What do you think of these for caponizing tools?

Quote: Do I want the 3x4 prong or the 2x3 prong? I know I want blunt and 4 or 4.5 inch size.
