Babies... can you help me identify..PIC's

Give it a week or two and see how their combs grow out. And their waddles...Usually the ones with the big red ones are the boys. May be too early to tell. They are really beautiful! Great photo!

Agressive young Rooster with younger hen--what's happening???

Well, he attacks another hen yesterday and she cowered in the corner with her head down, I thought he was going to kill her. He was terrible! I put my foot inbetween to break it up and he went after me. I can't keep him. I called a woman who I know who is wonderful with chickens and she is...

Agressive young Rooster with younger hen--what's happening???

I have a rooster who was born June 8th this year. I have a set of eggs that were born about 6 weeks after that. My rooster this week has begun to be aggressive with one of the younger hens. What's happening? I had to separate the hen from the rooster because he is so much bigger than she...

hmmm... still waiting for an egg...

Hmmm...see if you can have someone who tells the sex of a chicken to be sure. They should be laying at 24 weeks, so I am told.

Cockerel to pullet ratio - Why was I so heavy on roos?

Well, I had spoke to an old farmer a few weeks back and he said that "if it's a wet year" then we will get mostly boys. He said it must be a wet year already because all the calves we have born recently 90% are boys. I think that's interesting. Not sure if that's a fact, but sometimes old timers...

3 wk old chick acting weird/sick?

If she is drinking, add electrolites and vitamins to her water, if she is eating, try adding some granite pellets (touch her gizzard in front, is it puffy and full or empty?) she may need some little rocks and isn't digesting well. Good luck!

    Very sick chicken

So sorry about your chicken. Is she eating or drinking? My roostie was sick a few weeks ago, I think he got too hot, not sure. His comb and waddled turned almost completely white, he was closing his eyes too, like he was going to die. He is doing fine now, after speaking to my friend at the...

Chicken Murder... I didn't think it would happen to me.

I am SO SORRY to hear about your chickens, I know that in some places in the country, the dog would be put down. Once they get the taste of a chicken, or goat or whatever, there is no stopping them! I think the owner is terrible to allow his dog(s) roam free! I have a neighbor like this who has...

    Urgent help needed for chick!

So sorry he didn't make it. I tried to hatch several Rhode Island Red eggs, ones that were given to me by a friend. Only one hatched, I cracked open the rest a couple of days after they were supposed to hatch and it's like you described, they were just about grown in the shell, but their, what...

Is there REALLY free chicken coop plans out there???

Hi, is there REALLY free chicken coop designs/plans? I hope to be able to build a portable chicken coop (with wheels) so that I can move it around the yard when needed. I have seen some for sale out there, but they seem super expensive! Is there any FREE plans out there, nothing too extensive or...

Third time (hopefully) is a charm???

It's good to know that my efforts are not in vain. Thanks everyone for sharing your hatching and not hatching stories. I am glad I am not alone. Good luck too! :-)

Third time (hopefully) is a charm???

We moved to the country recently, and I have always loved animals. I have always wanted hens and so I went to the local extension office and borrowed one of their incubators. I was given about 20 eggs from a local friend. I started the first 10 and then a few days later the remaining eggs. (I...
