    Hello, I use to have hens but something came and killed them ( Old and new hens). I was very upset about that and haven't had ant hens since. My sister has recently bought hens in April of this year (2015) and they have not laid any eggs. She lives in SC and this is her first time having hens...

    I do use a tarp for the snow when it came. Even when its misty outside the dirt will get damp. I don't like seeing their feet muddy and want a more permanent solution. I do like your pics tho.

    I've saw a few that said yo use pea gravel but how would you clean up the poop? Now I shovel and rake the poop out and put down hydrated lime to keep the smell down.

    From my profile pic, I'm having a problem with mud since my hens have picked all the grass out. Any suggestions on what I can put down to stop the muddy marsh. I've had. My hens since April of this year and they're doing great!

    @ Studio 2270. Its my neighbors BO and she has said it crowed. I told her if its crowing its a rooster. Now I can tell her the news. Looks like I was wrong on the breed. I'm glad that's cleared up also. Thanks you.

    I think this is a Dominique breed, but do not know if its a rooster or a hen ? Can anyone tell just by the pic? Thanks for the reply !
