Hi Jackie,
After digging around in my Photo file I found some pictures
of both the roo & pullet at the same age. . .
about 8 - 9 weeks old.
The roo
The Pullet
Thanks for the photo speckledhen
Nice to have a comparison to look at.
Just as I thought, he is much to light to be
an Orpington.
lol, He looks good, but is such a pain!
He torments ALL the chickens. they are all afraid of him.
All the hens RUN & scatter whenever he is around.
He is the King...
I had a hard time finding the food grade DE
in my area, everywhere I looked only had the
type used for swimming pools.
I did find it at Amazon.com for a reasonable amount of $.
I ordered it on the 16th, they shipped on the 18th & I
received it on the 20th of the month.
It was listed as ...
When you list your chicks/chickens on
craigslist; you must have them up for
'adoption' with a fee or ask for a 're-homing fee'.
That way your subject shouldn't get flagged.
There was a complaint about pets/animals
selling on craigslist, some groups thought
people wouldn't go to animal shelters...
I thought he might be a Blue Orpington?
But he seems to be the wrong shape
and not heavy enough to be an Orpington?
But he is young & still growing.
Could he possibly be a Blue Andalusian?
This breed description seems to fit better with his shape/size.
He is about 12 weeks old.
I would have to agree with birdlover.
Make sure the chick is drinking water.
I had this when mine first arrived.
I noticed one of them was listless, and only sleeping.
I did have sugar in my water & dipped her beak in it several
times. After about an hour she was much more chipper.
I made a...
Thats a good idea about the frozen veggies!
I will keep that in mind for my flock.
As for feather picking - I agree with all the issues about
space/diet/boredom.
But once they start something like feather picking, it
is hard to get them to stop. And if they draw blood they are relentless!
I had...
I too, think they are Silver Spangled Hamburgs.
I have 6 of these, 4 pullets & two roos.
Mine are about 10 weeks old.
this is how they look
at 3 weeks the yellow headed one in the center
a pullet at 4/5 weeks
same age, but a roo
a pullet 2 days ago
a roo two days ago

Thanks speckledhen,
I am soo glad she is a pullet!
She follows me around during my morning chores in the
chicken pen. She is very friendly.
She does look just like yours.
You have been very helpful.
Thanks again, Carole

Thanks to everyone for making me feel welcome!
This forum has already been extremely helpful in
identifying the different breeds I have, thanks for that also.
I do know where Oregon House is!!
I am in the same county, in Arboga.
I have lived in & around Wheatland area for the
past 35 years...
Can anyone tell what breed this is??
I thought maybe a Brown Leghorn?
In the last week, her breast feathers are changing to a
nice reddish chestnut colour
the one on the left
and is this a pullet or roo??
