We had heard that runner ducks aren't broody but we have a super broody duck that wouldn't let us touch her nest. Decided to see what would happen if we left that clutch alone 2 weeks ago and it looks like we have 4 for 4 ducklings on their way. My question is, now what? Do we leave the eggs...
We have 5 runner ducks and 1 kaiki campbell, they have a 5x4 windowless house. We live in NorCal mountains where it doesn't usually get lower than 20 at night but we are expecting our first snow this weekend. Anything special we need to do for them? Heat lamp?
Just wanted to update that Metzer gave us the option of a second shipment or full refund with no hassles, we chose to refund and got it in a timely manner. We plan on ordering from them again when these two are out of the brooder. Still happy growing guys :)

We got two, week old runners at the farm store yesterday and I am happy to report that they are doing well :). We have decided to hold off on the bigger shipment until these guys are out of the brooder. They are adorable and I can't wait to introduce these ones to the kids!
Alrighty all, I've already answered a lot of these questions, and while I completely appreciate the help I'm going to stop answering questions multiple times ;)
We used flock raiser, which is what our local feed store recommended and feeds their ducklings. When I'm there later I'll ask if...
The ducks started dying a few hours after we got them, and were all dead within 12 hours. Yes, pine shaving, food, water and temperature controlled. Getting two more today, will see how they do.
Thank you all for your support, it does help.
To answer a few questions, yes, we live in Grass Valley so only 4 driving hours to Metzer. Their website said all over it that the ducks arrive on Wednesday, so first thing Wednesday I went to see if they were there, apparently they had arrived...
Went to give her the mama duck and she's gone too. Now they are all piled in the box they came in, I'm a wreck.
ok, any more perfect brooder suggestions? One more try next week with a new set, if this happens again I think I'm done :(
Yes, I got the grow gel. They seemed fine in the box :(. I have a thermometer so I am making sure it's 95 under the bulb at one end, and it feels cool at the other so I'm pretty sure the temperature is ok. It is sounding like we didn't do anything awful, although maybe too much sugar, I feel a...
So no on the sugar? I followed the instructions on the breeders website exactly for the amount of sugar. What exactly and how much exactly should I use for the water?
don't know off hand what sawdust, but it was what the local farm store uses and recommends for ducks.
I removed it though...
