Well i am glad to here that it's not the breeder as I don't know anywhere else to buy from. It's pouring with rain here now for the next week so will go and investigate when I get the opportunity. Thanks again sunhwakwon!- Numero182

Examining the foot has proved impossible, i just can't catch her!! I have never been able to get near to any of our chickens, I don't know why they are so nervous. The lame hen is still not using her injured leg/foot but the others haven't yet resorted to dispatching her so let's hope it stays...- Numero182

OK, so I've just got her off the eggs, food and water just outside now, she went and had a good drink of water and is now looking confused at why the door is closed but I'll leave it half hour and let her back in, seemed to take her a little while to get her legs going to start with. -

A nice surprise indeed if she survives then! We put a feeder in the house now but the water bowl is just outside so they don't make a mess but think maybe we'll put water in there too, not so close that she can drink from her nest and I'll go up and coerce her off the nest once a day, I did... -

Thanks Miss Lydia, So, a bit of an update for you, it turns out my wife found an egg in the nest two weeks ago, quite sometime after we thought she'd stopped laying and as she didn't know how long it had been there decided she would leave it in the hope we would have a little gosling running... -

A question on feeding if I may, we keep nothing in their house overnight now as we don't want them soaking the place with water and food without water is not good so we hang their feeder in their during the day and remove it at bedtime. All seems to work OK except they don't budge from their... -

Thanks again for the replies. We might try the plastic flooring option to see how it differs although they wen tin a bit easier tonight, could be just a fluke though i suppose. The sawdust is more like shavings, it's not too fine at all so think it's OK regarding nostrils etc, I HOPE... -
