HI all,

Not quite new to the forum, been posting in the goose section as that's all I have for the moment but right now I'm looking after a friends chickens, 8 hens and 1 cockerel while they are away for three weeks.

All fine week one but now one of the chickens is sitting in one of the nest boxes and seems not to be moving, when I say this I can't be sure but she's always there facing the same way when I go to collect eggs and feed them, when I go in she fluffs herself up as big as she can and won't budge an inch and makes a funny quiet warbling noise, I'm guessing she wants me to go away is all.

So I know she's sitting on some eggs but what should I do about that?

Any help GREATLY appreciated.

Do you know if your friends want a broody to hatch chicks for them?
Cause sounds like a broody he to me!

If the answer is no, I'd get the eggs out from under the hen.....
......wear gloves and long sleeves if you're afraid of her biting you.
But be brave and she'll probably get used to you removing any eggs each day.
She won't lay, but other hens might lay in the nest.

You could also pull the hen out of the nest however many times a day you are there.
