I am considering getting or making an automatic egg turner.
My bators are both wooden countertop types built by my dad. One holds temp like a rock, the other is a little more tempermental.
Would a bought auto turner work if it physically fit in the bator?
On the other hand, has anyone...
I picked up some superb partridge cochin chicks (standard cochins) today from KristenH (Mandy).
Granted, she is close to me, but even so, if she has birds or eggs you'd like to have (or even sheep!), it would be worth the drive.
Her chicks are VERY well taken care of and happy. Friendly and...
I asked on another post, but didn't get help. Leg bands and the mostly useless (apparently, anyway) rubber band things, yes. Dying your chicks, no.
Not planning to sell the colored chicks, just need info on how you used food dye to successfully color chicks to separate blood lines, chicks...
I'm no expert, but I think it would help if you could post a picture.
Has the chick always had purplish feet or is this a new development? I know some breeds of chickens have dark legs, but they usually always have dark legs.
If it's running around and eating/drinking/pooing normally, I'd...
Google search. Don't remember when, but I think about the end of March, 08. I started looking for info on sexing chicks. Lurked around for a while, then decided to join the fray. If I don't log on every day, I think I'll go through withdrawal !!
Still don't have too many ideas on...

Just a thought about towing the car. We've got travel club benefits on our Chevron gas card. Yeah, you'll have to pay the towing, but they reimburse you for it, I think up to $100.00. Also, our insurance has towing on it.
Umm, didn't you say you wanted to borrow her car for a...

Now THAT's an idea! Here they are paying 70 cents a pound for coke cans. I don't know what they are paying for junkers, but when we took cans to the junkyard for $, there were over a dozen people bringing in junk cars for money. So they must be worth something!
If it's abandoned on...
I got tricked on the consecutive days. Didn't think of that. I was also considering first, second, third, etc.
I've got one for you from my college creativity class:
A man builds a square house in which each wall has one huge picture window. Each window faces south. A bear walks through...

Yeah, well, that's what I'm afraid of. Unfortunately, that thought did not cross my mind until after I clicked the button. And darn it, I could NOT get the button to unpush!
I remember trying some teeny rubber bands for my shih-tzu to keep the hair out of her eyes. That didn't...

Hi, Chicken Masters
Dummy here would like to know what the velcro strips are. Dummy would also like to know how you use food color to mark your chicks. I tried food color in a spray bottle (coloring and water) and that did not work well. Had a pink dog for a while, though! Daisy...
I understand they are also called Coturnix.
Mom bought 2 trios of goldens yesterday when she fell in love with them. Now we know that we should have gotten "normal" males instead. Oh well. Still cute.
So... Anyone have or plan to have fertile hatching eggs soon? I've seen a couple of...
Okay, Lurky and ChickenBoy -- what are your babies? They sure are cute! Mommas aren't bad, either! Thanks for the pix.
Seriously, thanks for the input. We had silkies once and they were anything but broody. Could have been inbreeding, I guess.
