I'm giving hemp shavings a go. Supposedly more absorbent that other options and no odors. I'm using it in my brooder with 25 chicks - 2 weeks and no odor. And they seem to really like kicking and stirring it up - so much so they keep filling their water and food containers. Just a thought.
I agree with deep litter method. I'm giving shredded hemp a go. Supposed to be more absorbent than any of the wood chips or shavings. Haven't compared cost. I'm using it in my brooder and so far so good. No smell at all.
