    Free ranging pros and cons?

I have found my girls are smarter then I originally gave them credit for. They have a big covered run to protect from predators. Anyway, they free range during the day and I have found that if we aren't outside or the dogs aren't out with them they gravitate to going back to their run. Kinda...

What about straw? Or is not enough to keep their feet dry?

    Help, moving chicks outside

TY ole grey mare, that's great advice. The fixed fence run area 10' x30'. And free range is about 1/4 acre. We are converting an old fixed jungle gym area for the coop run area. It's a big jungle gym. We were going to take down the club house part of it, but now I'm thinking more in the line of...

My girls are 3 weeks old have most of their feathers, except their heads. Their coop hasn't come in yet, (not my idea, it's a present from my parents). The coop they...

    New feathers?

Thank you sooo much. I guess I'm a little paranoid, but better safe then sorry and lose a chick. When I was cleaning the shavings a little while ago I did notice some of the others had some coming in too. I'm going to miss the puffiness though. ;)

    New feathers?

I'm a new chick mom. My little 1 1/2week chicks are preening, scratching, or something all the time now. I looked at one of them because she looks a bit rough. It looks like there are maybe feathers growing in. With kind of tubes surrounding them. Is that a new feather? They're all acting...
