    Un-freaking-believable!!!!

    Yep.. we have red tailed and Coopers hawks quite often. One of them ate a pullet straight through the brooder she was in. Kinda gross but made us reinforce the coop. We are in very urban SD and there is a hawk that has had her nest in a big tree for years...

    Mine LOVE cabbage! And they have been fine since eating it.... They actually will seek it out in the garden.

    I got one like that and it wasnt a "fart" egg it had a yolk and everything! Just super tiny. Not sure which hen it came from tho.

    Give mine a snail and you will see them run all over to try to keep it to themselves! Snails, slugs, grubs, worms, spiders, earwigs... pretty much everything! Glad the cat and dog can run away...

    How to keep them out?

    Lowes and Home Depot have safety netting that works really well. It comes in safety orange which is good for highways but also dark green which is great for your garden. The holes are about 1.5inches in diameter, so you can put a stake/metal pipe through the bottom if they are really digging...

    Keep 'em and enjoy! Eggs last a really long time so long as the "bloom" has not been washed off. Some say as much as six months...I have not tried that!

    Don't you worry about fliers/emails that have that many words spelled wrong and out of context? If I lived there it would go straight into the trash bin...to be composted with the 1000 chicken craps per day....hahaha.

    I too was worried when we decided to expand our flock. We got the first flock as little peepers and went the same route with the new ones. The first few months we kept the new ones in the brooder to stay warm like you are supposed to but brought the brooder out into the yard when the big girls...
