Does anyone have the multiple-grafted fruit trees? I ordered a few and would like some feedback.

Well, funny you should ask. The ridiculously deep frost, deer, voles and Japanese beetles killed them and I never got a chance to find out. I have a few that we planted after that and they seem to be growing ok, but the Stanley plum never flowers. :idunno I live near so many wonderful...

Breed please? She was all black but now has brown

It's a boy! His name is Jake, but I still don't know what breed. He is very nice to his Khaki Campbell wifey, Daisy. I know he is probably a mix, and we love him. He doesn't let the chickens run the show, and he is outnumbered 29-2.

Do all drakes do a "victory lap" after mating? ;)

Wonderful! I knew I'd like having ducks, but had no idea about this.

Do all drakes do a "victory lap" after mating? ;)

I have a drake, whose name is Jake. The duck pool is outside the run as of now. When things start freezing, I will put a smaller pool in the run. I am new to ducks, and I love my two. Every morning, when I let chickens and ducks out of the run, Daisy and Jake head straight for the pool and...

Methods for keeping water from freezing

I don't do a moat. I have a few hens with longer wattles that just the tips dip in the water. They get very dry and cracked but haven't ever had any turn black and fall off. I have mostly breeds that have shorter wattles. I am up u the Canadian border inNY state.

Methods for keeping water from freezing

Yes, actually I did. I went to Petsmart and got an 18 watt heated dog bowl (holds about 1 gallon) and ran an an extension cord. You can also order them on the internet if you don't have a Petsmart by you. I specifically wanted very low wattage. This uses less than a 25 watt cfl bulb so I...

And then there was one. :(

    Well, here goes nothing.

And then there was one. :(

I go tomorrow to look at a khaki Campbell companion for our feathered lawn ornament. A 4H teen hatched a bunch of them and is willing to part with 1 or 2. My current duck is 7 weeks old and the others are 3 months old. I guess I will see the size difference when I see them tomorrow to figure...

And then there was one. :(

My husband brought home 3 ducklings from the hardware store May 15th. Right away I noticed that the crested duck had a wry neck and possibly deformed wing on one side. He was a little wobbly but otherwise getting around ok. The other 2 were happy and healthy. I started supplementing niacin...

Breed please? She was all black but now has brown

Well, I guess we will have a surprise when she is older. I'll post another photo in a month or so. :D. Here is a photo of her the day after DH brought them home. All black.

Breed please? She was all black but now has brown

Can feed store assortments be mixes? I thought they were assortments of different breeds. I'm not saying the hatchery they were purchased from has exemplary breeding stock, but I wouldn't think they'd be mutts. That hasn't been my experience with chickens, anyway. :). She has lots of...

Breed please? She was all black but now has brown

She is a hardware store duck. Cashier had no idea. My husband brought home 3 ducklings and 3 turkeys (Not sure their breed either). The other 2 ducks are Pekin and crested.

Breed please? She was all black but now has brown

I think this is a female, she was all black as a duckling. She is about a month old. I think it's a cayuga. I'm new to ducks. Thank you. :)

Thanks. But the closest one to me is in Canada. It's over an hour away. The next closet is 2.5 hours drive, and then after that it's a 5 hr drive. :-/
