I have 6 3-day old chicks in the brooder. I know I should mix the chick grit into their food and I have, but how much is too much? Is there a too much?

I am going to incubate for the first time with some fertile Easter Egger eggs. My town that I live in does not allow Roosters. Should I just order day-old chicks or take the chance and get some hatching eggs then give away the rooster(s) if I get one? Any Suggestions would be extremely helpful!
