Let's talk Cuckoo and WHITE marans... breeding strategies...

You will get blue golden cuckoo (kind of) A real blue hen that is a dilute of a real E/E black would make a real blue cuckoo with a cuckoo male. You would have single bar males that are B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L. I made this guy maybe last year?

Let's talk Cuckoo and WHITE marans... breeding strategies...

Wow, these look familiar where did they come from?? The dark pullets are perfect except for the ones with white tips. I would cull them or not use for breeding. nice chicks. :-)

Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

I know it makes no sense. But that was based on a study on Black Wyandottes I believe. From what I have read melanizers that cause black plumage are too many to fully understand. I will try to find the reference for you. I do not believe this is the problem in the BC, I believe it is the same...

Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Hi Don, I do remember a conversation the I had with you and Walt about allowance in the tail of the cuckoo. I do believe that it is just an allowance before a fault and too much would be a DQ. Of course that was the Cuckoo not BC. Sometimes the white is not a genetic or color flaw but caused...

    Breda Fowl thread

I love the look of that cuckoo in the pic I found. He looks so masculine compared to most of the Breda pics I have seen. I was actually considering a cross bird that I have at my uncle's. He is polish and lafleche and barred from the polish side. No shank feathers but the comb and nose are...

    Breda Fowl thread

Hi, What I meant by not as big as I thought was I was thinking they would be Langshan size for some reason. As far as making them cuckoo, I am not doing it for anyone but me and I have the time and patience. I could care less if they are popular or not. My chickens are purely for my...
