Please explain how you express the crop. I have a 2 year old hen that I'm pretty sure has sour crop. Also, how much vagisil and why does that help?
I sure look forward to hearing from you. It just kills me to see my chicken suffer.
Thanks
It looks like a crop issue. Alice is very lethargic and her comb is pretty limp. Color is still good. Anyone have a prognosis? I added a little more apple cider vinegar to their water hoping that will help.
Thanks in advance for any comments or experience with this issue.
I have a 2 year old hen that has been molting for quite some time. Today I notice a bulge just below her neck on her chest. All the feathers are gone. Her crop is drooping. Any ideas from anyone?
Please help.
Thank you both for your replies. I think I may have jumped the gun so to speak. Marianne seems just fine this morning and is doing what she usually does. No egg, however. I can only think that she is molting and will be back to business soon.
She is trying to lay an egg but all I have seen is some yolk and what I think is albumen in her nest. She has been molting and laying on and off for several weeks. Some of the shells are very thin. What can I do to help her?
Thank you. It looks like she may be egg bound. I tried giving her a crushed Tums and she wouldn't touch it. A little vaseline on and slightly inside her vent. Just hope this helps.
She is just about 1 year old and has been a good layer as well as very energetic until 2 days ago. No eggs from her for those 2 days and today she looks sick. Any suggestions as to the cause of her behavior and any suggestions regarding what I can do to help her?
