    Swedish Flower Hen Thread

The roosters are pretty big. Around 8 lbs full grown or a bit bigger based on the line I've got. Not sure what to compare them to but mine have ranged from Ameraucana size on up.

    Swedish Flower or something else

My Swedish Flower hen looks a lot like this. The other 2 I have are roos and are dark grey with white and brown spots, and light grey with some white and a little brown, but the girl is turning out just like yours but less chest color. She was an all white chick but got a few colored adult...

    King County, Washington!

I have full sized birds, not banties. Those two breeds of his are both the bantam sized ones, plus he only sells straight run chicks.

    King County, Washington!

I'm willing to buy from multiple sources, I just was having a hard time coordinating chick ages. I could do hatching eggs or chicks. I'm flexible on breeds, but my list is a sort of pyramid: Barred Rocks Black Marans or Welsummers Speckled Sussex or Wyandotte or Swedish Flower and then if I...

    King County, Washington!

This is an old thread, but if anyone knows of a breeder with decent varieties of breeds near King County, I'd love to know about them. I've been searching all over for a place to get chicks that don't come from a major hatchery because I've got an issue with what happens to so many male chicks...

Hen lays disgusting tasting/smelling eggs for months, but she seems healthy. What's up?

I have a 1 year old hen (Production or Rhode Island Red) who is the most consistent egg layer I've ever seen, and has laid straight through winter. She's the middle bird size wise, and the hen in charge of my flock of 3. She's healthy and has no obvious signs of disease of parasites. Plenty of...

    Hen laying bad eggs!

So what was wrong with the one(s) laying the bad eggs? I mean like what cured it? I have a similar problem with one of my hens who is otherwise healthy.

Can you feed chickens banana peels???

Mine rarely get the chance to eat the bananas themselves because I eat those but they love the peels and will eat the whole thing.

7 week old Barred rock died why?

I put them all on chick boost and a round of corid because I know they've already been exposed and will keep getting exposed while they go out each day. Better safe than sorrier in this case. Thanks for your advice.

7 week old Barred rock died why?

Thank you! Now I don't know what to do. Do I start treating them with Corid or start them on medicated feed? I got them from a farm store that got them from a hatchery in I think New Mexico so I don't know if they were vaccinated. I'm guessing not. None of them are showing signs of sickness...

7 week old Barred rock died why?

I had a 7 week old chick die on me pretty suddenly and I need to know why. She was in with the other chicks until the day before she died so I'm pretty worried the others are gonna get it. I already have a chick that's just recovering from a respiratory thing with vetrx so I don't want her to...

    DIY/Homesteading/Life on a budget

If you're getting rabbits that are New Zealand sized breeds, then the wire cubbies won't work, especially moms with litters.
