    Thank you! Very helpful. Now it makes more sense that she perches so much, probably a way to avoid the hens. They have almost a thousand square feet of fenced space so she has ways to avoid the hens. She has her own smaller cage she can hide in also. I don’t put cage them in any small enclosure...

    What makes you think it’s a cockerel? I’ve read so much that it’s hard to tell even by 5 months. Just curious what you are seeing. I really hope she’s a she because I want eggs.

    Blue bird preying on nesting box

    New chicken owner

    We live on one acre in Northern California. My SIL gave me 4 Jersey Giants. This is my first time owning chickens. We have a moveable cage and hope they enjoy eating all the bugs and fertilizing our poor grass.
