I went to check on him when I got home today and he is walking again!! He has great energy and his strength is getting better. I went out to record the video of him opening his mouth but he didn’t do it. It seems like he’s feeling better, but I’m still keeping him in his pen so he can rest.
We feed the purina duck food, which isn’t the best and we are going to change it soon. The straw and sticks are not part if his poop. He has large water bins that he has access to (changed every other day). His crop is a lot less distended which is good! When comparing his crop to my other duck...
Alrighty. So I checked his legs and feet more throughly and there wasn’t anything abnormal. He began eating again but I noticed his crop is a bit distended on the left side. I also will attach pictures of his poop.
I will be sure to get a photo of his poop when I get home. I will also take a closer look at his legs/feet. Thanks for telling me about the nutridrench, I'll try that out.
The shed was open and there was fertilizer in there, but it doesn't look like he got into it (although he could've I am not sure). He is still holding his head up and his poop looks normal, maybe a little runnier than normal. Thanks for the information!
Hello all! My 2 year old male Swedish duck seems to be sick. Two days ago, we found him laying next to our fence. I’m not sure if he got caught in it at all because he wasn’t bleeding and his wings, feet, etc looked normal. The day after, he was walking normally and eating normal. Starting...
Hello everyone! I live in Oregon and temperatures are going to be 108°+ this weekend. This is by far the hottest summer I’ve experienced here! I’m worried about my two ducks and how they will handle the heat. They have a shaded side yard, three accessible watering stations, and a large kiddie...
I would get a female however, I don’t have enough room for multiple females. I wouldn’t get just one due to the risk of her getting over-mated. I would like to avoid getting rid of him because that would leave my other drake alone.
Hello everyone! Recently my male Swedish duck has been very aggressive to his brother (I have two Swedish drakes). He only shows this behavior in the pool, where he bites the back of his brother’s neck and tries to get on top of him. This sometimes results in him getting drowned and I either...
Last night, one of my two 6 month old Swedish ducks got killed by a raccoon. It was very difficult see him like that. His brother is very scared and confused and I'm wondering if I should get him a new companion. I also could take him to a rescue center that takes in farm animals including...
